Germany legend Lukas Podolski has enjoyed his time at Galatasaray between 2015 and 2017 and was always proud to be a part of the Turkish giants.

With Leroy Sané, Galatasaray have once again brought in a big name from Germany - and Lukas Podolski has welcomed his former colleague's transfer with open arms:

“Leroy is definitely Galatasaray’s king transfer. Not just their star, but the shining new star of the entire league.”

Podolski, who managed to play 75 games for Galatasaray, has talked to “Sport BILD” about what Sané can expect once he arrives in Istanbul:

“Leroy should get used to leaving his lira [Turkish currency] at home in the safe when going out. As a Gala star, wherever he goes, he’ll be welcomed like royalty—the main courses will just fly at him!”

“The Gala fans are extremly proud that he is now a part of their club. They will definetly show him how grateful they really are”, he continued.

Podolski also praised Galatasaray’s recent recruitment strategy, adding that the club is now aiming “for more than just the Süper Lig”, with a realistic target of reaching the Champions League round of 16.

Sané officially signed a three-year deal with Galatasaray after turning down Bayern Munich’s offer to secure a deal reportedly worth around €15 million per year net.
