Reus completes MLS switch: "A world class player who has excelled at the highest level."

German footballing legend Marco Reus' move to America's MLS has been officially confirmed. 

 

Marco Reus' officially completed his move to LA Galaxy of America's MLS on Thursday evening. The 35-year-old German footballing legend signed a contract with the California outfit good through December of 2026. Reus closed his BVB chapter after 12 seasons at the conclusion of the 2023/24 Bundesliga campaign. He departs German football having won two DFB Pokals (2017 and 2021) and three DFL Supercups (2014, 2015, and 2020). 

“Marco Reus is a world-class player who has excelled at the highest level of the sport, including in two Champions League finals for Borussia Dortmund,” Galaxy General Manager Will Kuntz noted in a club statement ”Marco joining Galaxy after playing his entire career in Germany is a testament to the project we are continuously building at the club.”

Galaxy head-coach Gregg Varney added that Reus was a "proven leader who will integrate seamlessly into the group due to his talent and the ability to read the game." Reus himself spoke in German on a video released on the club's X feed in which he declared himself "excited to be joining the club" and "eager to get to know my new teammates."
