Sport Bild Report: Eberl and team prepare to shop Upamecano

Germany's main sporting tabloid reports that Dayot Upamecano will indeed be the "odd-man-out" in Bayern München's central defensive corps once the transfer of Jonathan Tah is completed.

Contrary to reports emerging in France's “L'Équipe” earlier this week, it looks to be case that FC Bayern München wish to give up on French central defender Dayot Upamecano. Bayern are widely expected to sign Leverkusen and German national team star Jonathan Tah as their first move to shake up a wrecked defensive corps in the current offseason. Following this, the German record champs must decide whether to shop Matthijs de Ligt or Min-Jae Kim.

Despite the fact that de Ligt had form and injury issues this season, Germany's main sporting tabloid reports that Bayern wish to retain the Dutchman. Eric Dier's permanent move to the Bavarian club has been confirmed. The German giants are, per the "Sport Bild" tabloid, also hoping that Kim will improve on his disappointing first FCB season. The South Korean still constitutes too large of an investment to cash in on immediately.

The tabloid reports claims that Max Eberl and the Bayern front office believe that Upamecano has made too many mistakes in his three seasons since following Julian Nagelsmann from RB Leipzig. This internal assessment completed, the high ups hope to recoup the reported €42.5 million they spent to acquire the 25-year-old from Leipzig three years ago.

There remain plenty of takers for the Frenchman across the continent and on the Isle. Upamecano has been linked with Manchester United recently. Chelsea, Man City, and PSG were reportedly angling for his services before he joined the record champs. Upamecano maintains a €45 million estimated market worth in the latest transfermarkt update.
