Werder Bremen appear to have found their man to replace the recently sacked Horst Steffen as head coach.

According to Bild, the Green-Whites are close to reaching a full agreement with Daniel Thioune.

The 51-year-old was dismissed as Fortuna Düsseldorf coach in October. Since he is still under contract with the 2. Bundesliga side, a small transfer fee will likely be required to complete the deal.

If Thioune takes over, it would be his first Bundesliga job. In addition to Fortuna Düsseldorf, he has previously coached VfL Osnabrück and Hamburger SV.

Werder have slipped to 15th in the Bundesliga following a run of 10 league games without a win.
