SC Freiburg goalkeeper Noah Atubolu has joined the German national team for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Luxembourg and Northern Ireland.

The 23-year-old has received his first call-up to the senior squad after Oliver Baumann reported feeling nauseous on Monday.

It remains unclear when Baumann, who has been Germany's first-choice goalkeeper since Marc-André ter Stegen suffered a long-term injury, will be able to return. As a result, Atubolu has been called up as additional backup.

The goalkeeping department of the squad also includes Finn Dahmen (Augsburg) and Alexander Nübel (Stuttgart).

Atubolu was part of the German U21 national team that finished as runners-up at last summer’s European Championship in Slovakia. He has made a total of 22 appearances for the U21 side.
