A deal to see Merlin Röhl make the switch to Merseyside has progressed throughout deadline day, and Sky Sports' reports suggest that a deal has been reached between Everton and Freiburg that will see the midfielder join the club on loan, with a purchase obligation.

Contracts have not yet been signed between the parties involved; however, Röhl is in Liverpool to complete the deal.

The fee to secure his signature permanently sits at around €25 million, with Freiburg set to receive another big cash windfall next summer, after losing Ritsu Doan in August.

Röhl made 19 appearances for Die Breisgauer last term, and has made a further two in Freiburg's successive losses at the start of the 2025/26 campaign.
