Following Bayern Munich’s 4-0 win over 1. FC Union Berlin on Saturday, Harry Kane can now take a short breather.
The Bayern star has been given permission to link up with the England national team later due to his heavy workload in recent weeks and the demanding fixture schedule awaiting Bayern after the international break.
“If we look at the schedule in April and May, and then the World Cup, it is a sensible decision,” Kane said, according to kicker.
As a result, Kane will not feature in both of England’s upcoming friendlies against Uruguay and Japan.
England head coach Thomas Tuchel deliberately named a larger squad to rest certain key players – including Kane, who will join up with the team at a later date.
The 32-year-old striker recently had his minutes managed at Bayern due to calf issues.
