When Norman Theuerkauf joined Heidenheim from Eintracht Braunschweig in 2015, he was only 18 months short of celebrating his 30th birthday. The veteran has now hung up his boots at Heidenheim after playing 274 games for the club.

However, the 38-year-old will stay at Heidenheim as he’s been appointed the U15 coach. Theuerkauf played in Heidenheim’s all 10 Conference League games, but he only featured once in the Bundesliga this season.

During his playing times, Theuerkauf played both as a defensive midfielder and left-back. After failing to break into the first-team of Werder Bremen and Eintracht Frankfurt, the Nordhausen native revived his career at Braunschweig, where he first experienced Bundesliga football back in the 2013/14 season.
