Reportedly frustrated that his deal to switch to Eintracht Frankfurt ended up stalling and ultimately falling through, Sebastian Politer has apparently opted to agree to terms with the newly promoted FC Schalke 04. Toni Lieto of German footballing magazine Kicker reports that the Königsblauen have agreed to pay VfL Bochum €1.5 million for the 31-year-old.

Polter became expendable at Bochum when the Reiverklub acquired KSC striker Philipp Hofmann earlier this summer. The disaffected attacker now finds a new home just a few miles away in Gelsenkirchen. After Wolfsburg, Nürnberg, Mainz, Union Berlin, and Bochum, Schalke will be Polter's sixth top-tier German football club.

Toni Lieto of German footballing magazine Kicker notes that the transfer is set to be confirmed tomorrow. The move is actually very interesting from Schalke's perspective in that Polter will be competing with a fellow journeyman for the lead striker spot. Simon Terodde, a 2. Bundesliga legend, still has yet to prove himself in Germany's top footballing flight.
