Werder Bremen have officially confirmed the extension of head coach Ole Werner's contract.

The Bundesliga side did not reveal the length of the new deal, but local media outlet Deichstube has reported that it runs until 2026.

"Ole Werner and his team have done some incredible work, namely our promotion from Bundesliga 2 and then our subsequent survival in the top flight," said Werder sporting director Baumann.

"He took over the side during an extremely difficult period in late 2021 and managed to form a successful team whilst playing an attractive style of football. With his personality and idea of playing, he played a big part in us securing safety with a matchday to spare as a promoted side. We were never even in the relegation zone this season."

Werner himself commented:

"My time so far at Werder has been successful and positive in almost every regard. We’re in the process of developing a team that can establish itself in the long run in the Bundesliga. I’m pleased to take on this challenge because I feel like everybody here is working together towards the same common goal."
