Seoane refuses to confirm reports of surgery for Omlin

Gladbach coach Gerardo Seoane insists it's still not clear if Jonas Omlin will need surgery to fix his shoulder problems.
Recent reports from several media outlets have claimed that first-choice goalkeeper Jonas Omlin needs shoulder surgery and will be sidelined for a long period of time as a result.

However, speaking at a press conference today, Gladbach coach Gerardo Seoane insisted that a decision has yet to be made on whether the goalkeeper needs an operation.

"The tests are still ongoing. He will certainly not be there on Saturday, I can say that. Now it is important to clarify what the exact diagnosis is," Seoane told reporters.

"He has had a shoulder problem since the friendly against Montpellier. That's why we're talking to specialists now to see what the right course of action is. Whether he should have conservative treatment, so he can continue at the same pace and we can expect him to have minor problems from time to time, or whether he needs surgery.

"But for that we'll have to wait for the specialists' assessments and see what they recommend before we make a decision," he added.

Having been on the bench for Gladbach's first three games of the season, Moritz Nicolas appears to be Omlin's likely replacement on Saturday, but Seoane refused to give anything away.

"I will tell you on Saturday," he replied when asked who will be in goal against Bayern.
