Report: HSV to pick up Augsburg's Okugawa on loan

Hamburg's Abendblatt Zeitung reports that FC Augsburg are preparing to park Japanese winger Masaya Okugawa with the HSV for the second half of the season.
Former DSC Arminia Bielefeld winger Masaya Okugawa has only managed two insignificant relief appearances with FC Augsburg this season since he rejoined the German top flight following a one-year hiatus. Hamburg's Abendblatt Zeitung reports that the Fuggerstädter have found a solution that will enable the 27-year-old to garner more playing time during the second half of the current campaign.

Okagawa appears set for a loan out to third placed Bundesliga side HSV. The second division promotion candidates are currently seeking a replacement for German winger Ransford Yeboah- Königsdörffer, currently on international duty with the Ghanaian national team at the Africa Cup of Nations. Okugawa will be reunited with former trainer Tim Walter, whose he served at Holstein Kiel.

Okugawa has scored nine league goals in 48 Bundesliga appearances during two seasons in the top division with Bielefeld. He netted five goals and registered an impressive 10 assists last year during Bielefeld's ill-fated relegation campaign. The former Japanese youth international remains under contract with Augsburg through 2027.
