Schalke 04 keeper Alexander Nübel was praised by his coach, teammates, fans and opponents following Sunday's vital 1-0 win over Hannover 96.

The 22-year-old made a string of great saves throughout the match to make sure Schalke kept a clean sheet and was subsequently hailed for his impressive performance.

"My thanks for keeping a clean sheet today go to Alexander Nübel. I hope that this result gives os confidence for the next matches," Schalke 04 coach Huub Stevens told Sky after the game.

Suat Serdar, who scored the winning goal, said Nübel 'saved' Schalke and called him 'a world-class keeper' while both Hannover 96's Marvin Bakalorz and their head coach, Thomas Doll, admitted the 22-year-old delivered an 'outstanding' performance.

Schalke's many travelling fans also hailed Nübel's display by chanting his name after the win.

"It's a bit unusual to be cheered, but I really enjoyed the moment. I had goosebumps. That's why you play football," Nübel said in an interview with Sky.

The win leaves Schalke in 14th place after 27 Bundesliga games this season.
