RB Leipzig captain opts to play for Hungary

RB Leipzig captain Willi Orban, who used to play for the German under-21 national team, has announced his decision to play for Hungary.
Former German under-21 international Willi Orban has decided to play for the Hungarian national team, his club RB Leipzig and the Hungarian Football Association have announced today.

The RB Leipig captain, whose father is Hungarian, holds a dual citizenship and is eligible to play for Hungary as he hasn't made an appearance for the German senior national team.

Orban, 25, emphasized in the past that playing for Germany was his first priority, but as he hasn't been called up by Joachim Löw so far, he has opted to play for Hungary in the future.

The centre-back could make his debut for Hungary when the side face Greece and Estonia in the UEFA Nations League in October. He will play alongside his teammate from RB Leipzig Peter Gulacsi.
