Bayern Munich and Dayot Upamecano have been in talks over a new contract for some time, but the two sides have yet to reach an agreement on an extension beyond 2026.

Reports have suggested that the defender’s signing-on fee demands are a stumbling block, but the 27-year-old insists money is not the decisive factor.

"We are in discussions with Bayern. We’ll see what happens. It’s not about the money," Upamecano said after Bayern’s 6-2 win over Freiburg on Saturday.

Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly Bayern’s main competitors in the race for Upamecano.

However, the German champions have repeatedly stressed that they remain optimistic about keeping him.
