Having been sidelined with a foot injury since October, VfB Stuttgart forward Ermedin Demirovic is closing in on a return to action.

“I feel good. If it still aches, it’s more in my head than in my foot,” Demirovic told Sport Bild.

Asked how close he is to making his comeback, the 27-year-old replied:

“Not far. My goal was always to be back in team training before the end of 2025 so I could finish the year as a fit player. I’ve managed that, so January and the new year can come.”

The Bosnia and Herzegovina international also explained why stepping away from action when he did was crucial to avoiding a more serious injury.

“If I had continued playing, the bone might have fully broken. Then I would have needed surgery and probably been out for six months. This way, I was able to take a more conservative approach,” he said.

Demirovic and Stuttgart kick off 2026 away to Bayer Leverkusen on January 10.
