After a season of ups and downs that ended with a 12th-place finish in the Bundesliga, Borussia Mönchengladbach’s sporting management are now set to carry out an evaluation.

According to Bild, it remains unclear whether Eugen Polanski will continue as head coach despite having a contract until 2028, with a decision on his future expected next week.

“Now there’s a short moment for the whole club to pause and let everything sink in,” sporting direction Rouven Schröder told Bild.

Afterwards, the club plans to “take the whole week” and discuss everything “very carefully”, Schröder added.

Polanski’s decision to switch to a back four and introduce more attacking intent paid off, as Gladbach stormed to a 4-0 win over TSG Hoffenheim in their final game of the season, with Schröder saying the team looked “significantly more active” as a result.

However, the Gladbach boss stressed that he doesn't want to be carried away by the encouraging finish. While the performance against Hoffenheim “made you want more”, he said there are still “many things” that need to be improved.
