Anthony Jung has joined SC Freiburg from fellow Bundesliga opponents Werder Bremen, the clubs have announced.

It has been agreed between the sides that the details of the contract will remain confidential at least for now.

The 33-year-old, capable of playing left-back and centre-half, brings with him a wealth of experience as Freiburg return to European football.

It is believed that the veteran German defender has been signed to fill the void left by Manuel Gulde's retirement.

"Tony is strong in duels and, with his left foot, can be deployed in a variety of positions in several systems," said Freiburg's sporting director Jochen Saier.
