Germany's preeminent footballing publication reports that FC Augsburg have secured their desired €23 million transfer fee for squad captain Ermedin Demirovic. German footballing journalist Mario Krischel of Kicker Magazine claims that a special deal has been struck in which Augsburg will receive a base transfer fee of €21 million plus €2 million in very easily obtainable bonuses. The total figure can rise as high as €25 million.
Demirovic's sale will constitute a record for the Bavarian Swabian club, eclipsing Abdul Rahman Baba's sale to Chelsea for €20 million in 2015. In something of an interesting side note, Chelsea also recently completed the purchase of from Augsburg flop Renato Veiga for €14 million from FC Basel. The Fuggerstädter were so disappointed in the Portuguese youth international that they cancelled his loan arrangement early last summer.
