Kompany on replacing Boey: "We have options"
Bayern Munich announced on Monday that Sacha Boey will be out for several weeks after suffering a knee injury in training.
This leaves Bayern without their two main right-backs, with Josip Stanisic already sidelined and expected to be out until November.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of Bayern's Champions League opener against Dinamo Zagreb, head coach Vincent Kompany was asked how he plans to cope with Boey's absence.
“We have options. We'll think about it again tonight. It's a quick turnaround. We don't have much time. It's a shame for Sacha. We was in good form. We hope he comes back quickly."
There seem to be two options: Either Kompany moves Joshua Kimmich from midfield to right-back, or he leaves him in midfield and gives Konrad Laimer the chance on the right side of defence.
On the eve of the match, the Bayern boss wouldn't go into detail about who he plans to start at right-back against Dinamo Zagreb, but simply said:
“It's about the boys fighting. When good players play, then there's the chance of winning is great. We've won three games now. We need to keep doing. Only focus is only on that.”
