Breitenreiter will leave FC Zürich, with whom he recently won the Swiss league title, to take over the vacant position at Hoffenheim.
The Bundesliga outfit will reportedly activate a €300,000 release clause in the 48-year-old's contract to bring him to Sinsheim.
Breitenreiter, a former Hannover 96, Schalke 04, Paderborn and TSG Havelse coach, will succeed Sebastian Hoeness, who left the position as Hoffenheim coach at the end of the 2021/22 season.
