Kevin-Prince Boateng will stay and sign a new deal with Hertha BSC, managing director for sport Fredi Bobic and new head coach Sandro Schwarz confirmed at a press conference today.

"We have held good talks," said Bobic about 35-year-old Boateng, whose current deal expires at the end of this month. "Now we need to clarify some contractual things, and then we will announce [his contract extension]."

"We had an intensive and honest discussion," added Schwarz.

"I came to Berlin especially for this two weeks ago. I wanted to hear from him personally how the last season was, what he wants, how he sees his future."

While Boateng is set to stay, at least two other players are likely to leave the club this summer.

Santiago Ascacibar, who has publicly said he wants to leave, will be allowed to go for the right price, revealed Bobic.

"If the offer is suitable, then we talk. But he will definitely join the team on Friday," he said.

Eduard Löwen, on the other hand, no longer has a future at the German capital club after spending last season on loan at Bochum.

"Eduard Löwen is already in talks with another club and is therefore exempted from today's performance tests," Bobic revealed.
