RB Leipzig complete signing of Baumgartner

Christoph Baumgartner has left Hoffenheim to join RB Leipzig.
RB Leipzig have completed the signing of Christoph Baumgartner from TSG Hoffenheim.

The 23-year-old attacking midfielder has signed a contract with 'Die Roten Bullen' until 2028.

"I am very happy. Max Eberl, Rouven Schröder and Felix Krueger showed me right from the start that the club really wanted to sign me. The conversation with Marco Rose also showed me that joining RB Leipzig is absolutely the right move for me. The club offers incredible opportunities," said Baumgartner.

"I really wanted to join a club where you can win titles - and the team has shown that by winning the DFB Cup for the second year in a row. I'm also very excited about the Champions League. RB Leipzig is one of the most exciting clubs in Europe. That's why I'm more than happy and proud to be here."

RB Leipzig sporting director Max Eberl stated:

"Christoph Baumgartner is one of our dream players. He is versatile in attack, can play in the middle, on both wings, as a half or center forward, and can also play at eight.

"Christoph is fast, capable of scoring goals and very intelligent in the game. He is ambidextrous and has an excellent shooting technique. With his skills and flexibility we get another component in our game. On top of that, Baumi is just a good guy - down-to-earth, eager to learn, ambitious.

"With his desire to always improve and reach the next level, he's a perfect fit for our team and our club."

RB Leipzig have paid a reported €24 million to sign Baumgartner, who scored seven goals and provided seven assists in 33 Bundesliga games for Hoffenheim last season.
