Manchester United have stepped up their interest in Borussia Mönchengladbach's Alassane Plea, according to a report from Sky Germany.

The German media outlet claims that 'The Red Devils' have made contact with the player's environment over a potential summer switch.

Plea has previously been linked with a move to Manchester United by Express.de, who reported of their interest last month.

Gladbach broke their transfer record when they paid €23 million to bring the 27-year-old to Germany from OGC Nice in the summer of 2018.

He has since gone on to score 23 goals in 63 games for 'Die Fohlen'.
