Schalke 04 have confirmed the departure of Matthew Hoppe, who has signed for Spanish La Liga side RCD Mallorca.

Mallorca have paid a reported €3 million fee to sign the U.S. international, who has penned a four year deal.

"The financial aspect of this offer meant that in our current situation, we had to accept," said SChalke director of sport Rouven Schröder.

"Matthew is a brilliant young player, but he would have found it tough to obtain the regular starting place in this team in the next few weeks that he wants. We wish him all the best for his personal and sporting future."
