FC St. Pauli wing-back Philipp Treu is reportedly on the verge of returning to his former club.

According to Bild, St. Pauli have agreed a deal to sell the 24-year-old defender to SC Freiburg, where he previously played for the youth teams between 2017 and 2023.

Although Treu has just one year left on his contract with St. Pauli, the Hamburg club will reportedly receive a record-breaking fee of around €5 million, which could rise further through bonus payments.

With all details in place, Treu is expected to be officially unveiled by Freiburg soon.

Currently, St. Pauli’s record sales are Daniel-Kofi Kyereh and Morgan Guilavogui, who they signed for €4.5 million each.

In Guilavogui’s case, St. Pauli exercised a purchase option to make his loan from Lens permanent - only for the French club to immediately trigger a buyback clause to re-sign him.
