Germany's 2014 World Cup winner Sami Khedira was full of praise for Manuel Neuer, still labelling him as the best goalkeeper the Bundesrepublik has to offer.

“Purely in terms of facts and sporting performance, Manu is still by far the best German goalkeeper," he told SPORT1.

"He made outstanding saves not only at the Supercup, but also at the Club World Cup. Manu proactively decided to retire [from the national team].

“The most important thing is that he stays healthy. He has the ability, the mentality and the desire to win. For me, he's by far the best German goalkeeper,” he added.

Since then, Bayern Munich's legendary shot-stopper was asked about a potential national team comeback. It's safe to say the 39-year-old is unlikely to return.

“No. I'm thinking about our team, about Bayern, and I'm thinking about always performing as well as possible, helping the team and being successful,” Neuer explained to SAT1.
