Seoane remains noncommittal on goalkeeping question

Borussia Mönchengladbach head-coach Gerardo Seoane has left open whether or not squad captain and normal Jonas Omlin will reclaim his starting place this season.

Despite the fact that Jonas Omlin has returned to full match fitness, BMG trainer Gerardo Seoane has opted to keep Moritz Nicolas in between the sticks for his team for now. Seoane explained the somewhat surprising fact that Omlin wasn't given his starting place back against Bremen over the weekend by claiming that he didn't feel that the Swiss international had completed enough full-team training sessions just yet.

Omlin clearly has more overall experience than Nicolas, who surprisingly leapfrogged presumed keeper of the future Jan Olschowsky when shoulder surgery sidelined Online earlier this year. The 26-year-old Nicolas had just one Bundesliga appearance to his credit prior to this season. After starting over Omlin against Bremen, he's now made 26 starts this year. He is more in rhythm than his colleague.

Omlin returned to the starting role on match-day 27 against Freiburg, retaining his place against Wolfsburg and Dortmund in subsequent weeks. Nicolas once again took over when thigh problems sidelined Omlin the last three weeks. Speaking to reporters after Gladbach's Tuesday training session, Seoane left it open who would start in net this coming weekend against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Despite nicking a point off Bremen last weekend, Gladbach remain very much involved in the relegation race. The foals presently sit in 13th-place on 33 points with Frankfurt and Stuttgart remaining on the docket. Potential losses in both fixtures could force the West Prussians to contest the relegation playoffs. Seoane has many difficult choices to make.
