Sebastian Schindzielorz has been relieved of his duties as VfL Wolfsburg sporting director with immediate effect, the Bundesliga outfit confirmed on Thursday.

The decision has been taken following a poor run of results for Die Wölfe.

“Sebastian has always given his all for VfL Wolfsburg, with loyalty, commitment and great professional expertise,” said Wolfsburg managing director for sport Peter Christiansen.

“However, given the team’s current sporting situation, we’ve decided that we need new impetus in this position. I’d like to wholeheartedly thank Sebastian for his work and dedication to VfL Wolfsburg, and wish him all the best for the future.”

The move follows the recent sacking of head coach Paul Simonis, with the Bundesliga outfit looking to turn things around.
