Jarell Quansah is officially a Bayer 04 Leverkusen player.

The German vice-champions confirmed the signing of the English centre-back from Liverpool on Wednesday.

The English U21 international has signed a contract running until 2030 with Die Werkself and joins for a reported record-breaking fee of €35 million plus bonuses, making him Leverkusen’s most expensive signing ever.

“We are very pleased to sign Jarell Quansah, one of the most promising English center-backs," said Bayer 04 managing director for sport Simon Rolfes.

"He is fast, agile, and a good footballer. He has already made impressive contributions in Liverpool’s defense, which is shaped by world-class players. With Jarell, our defense gains added dynamism, pace, toughness in duels, and another very important building block for the Werkself’s future.”

Quansah, who will wear the number 4 shirt at Leverkusen, arrives with great enthusiasm.

“I got a good impression of the team and club when we faced Leverkusen last season in the Champions League with Liverpool. A great team - they played the first 60 minutes like hardly any other team at Anfield,” said the 22-year-old.

“During the talks, they explained their ambitious goals very clearly. It’s a great challenge and opportunity for me to be part of Leverkusen’s current revival," he added.

Quansah was most recently a key player for the England side that defeated Germany 3-2 in the final to win the U21 Euros.
