Bayern considering keeping Boey after all

Sacha Boey has long been seen as one of the players Bayern wanted to sell this summer. However, it now appears the club is reconsidering and may keep him after all.

Since joining Bayern Munich from Galatasaray for a reported €30 million fee a year and a half ago, Sacha Boey has struggled to live up to expectations.

It’s therefore little surprise that the Frenchman has been consistently linked with a move away from Säbener Straße.

However, according to Kicker, Bayern are now reconsidering his future, with the German outlet reporting that “the coaching staff is said to have spoken out in favor of keeping” Boey.

Apparently, they believe Boey can still play an important role at the club in the upcoming season.

Bayern head coach Vincent Kompany is spoiled for choice at right-back, with Konrad Laimer and Josip Stanišić also competing for playing time.

As a result, Bayern’s board member for sport, Max Eberl, has previously admitted that one of the three could be on the move. For a long time, Boey appeared the most likely candidate to leave - but that may now be changing.

“With Konny [Konrad Laimer], Stani [Josip Stanišić], and Sacha, we have three right-backs. That’s quite a lot, in fact. Now Sacha is here, and he will play for us. After that, we’ll see what the future holds. But having three right-backs is definitely a luxury,” Eberl said a week ago.
