Maximilian Beier seems to have settled in quickly at Borussia Dortmund following his move from Hoffenheim.
The young striker is in contention to start Dortmund's first Bundesliga game of the season against Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday, BVB coach Nuri Sahin revealed at a press conference on Thursday.
"Intelligent footballers don't take that long to integrate. I have the feeling he was there right away. He's ready and an important option, also for the weekend," said Sahin.
“We will make a decision after the two (remaining) training sessions. Obviously he's a candidate, that's why we brought him in. He will be an important player for us.”
Karim Adeyemi made his most recent start up front for Dortmund in the 4-1 DFB-Pokal win over Phoenix Lübeck. Beier replaced him after 69 minutes.
Apart from the injured Serhou Guirassy, Sahin has a full squad at his disposal, with Gregor Kobel also fit after coming off at half-time at the weekend.
“Kobel has been training with us all week. It was just a precautionary measure. Everyone else is fit too except Serhou, who is in recovery training. Everything looks very good. We're waiting for him and we're looking forward to him finally getting going.”
