Borussia Dortmund have reached an agreement over a contract extension with captain Emre Can, according to Sky Germany.

The German outlet reports that the 32-year-old’s current deal, which was set to expire this summer, will be extended by a further year, keeping him at the club until 2027.

The extension comes despite Can currently being sidelined with a cruciate ligament tear, which is expected to keep him out for several months.

Can has been with Dortmund since January 2020, when he arrived from Juventus.

In total, he has made 220 appearances for the Black and Yellows, scoring 23 goals and registering 12 assists.
