Fears have heightened in Werder Bremen's camp that Karim Coulibaly could be a doubt for next Sunday's trip to FC St. Pauli.

The 18-year-old was forced to limp off shortly after the hour mark during his side's 3-0 defeat to Bayern Munich last Saturday.

Now, according to Kicker.de, the central defender has been diagnosed with a “structural muscle injury in his thigh”.

Bremen's team doctor Philip Heitmann conducted the MRI scan on the German talent this afternoon and came to the conclusion.

Head coach Daniel Thioune said Coulibaly will be assessed “day by day” but labelled his involvement as “definitely questionable”.

With Bremen only two points ahead of St. Pauli who are sat in 17th-place in the relegation zone, every player could prove vital next weekend.
