With his contract set to expire at the end of the season, Borussia Dortmund captain Emre Can has addressed the possibility of extending his stay at the Bundesliga club.

"The club has an enormous amount of trust in me and I have trust in the club. I am very happy here, because I went through difficult times and the club was basically always behind me. That’s why, as things stand today, I believe I will also be playing football here next year," Can told Sky Germany.

"But in football you should never set anything in stone, so we’ll see," added the 31-year-old.

The former Liverpool player has been with Borussia Dortmund since 2020 and is reported to earn around €9 million per year.
