Johan Manzambi has been suspended for three Bundesliga matches following his red card in Freiburg’s 1-0 win over Werder Bremen at the weekend, the German Football Association announced on Tuesday.

The 20-year-old midfielder received a straight red after a VAR review of a sliding tackle on Werder’s Olivier Deman.

The suspension means Manzambi will miss Freiburg’s upcoming league fixtures against Hoffenheim, Borussia Mönchengladbach and Eintracht Frankfurt.

He will, however, be eligible to play in Tuesday’s DFB-Pokal quarter-final against Hertha BSC.

This season, Manzambi has now collected two red cards and four yellow cards in the Bundesliga.
