Leipzig to bid farewell to Gruda with no permanent deal in sight

It seems highly unlikely that RB Leipzig will sign the Brighton loanee permanently, unless the Saxony club generates a lot of revenue over summer.

Brajan Gruda will be officially bid farewell to RB Leipzig on Saturday – his loan is expiring and there is no purchase option agreed.

For the time being, he will return to Brighton & Hove Albion, however Leipzig and Gruda have established an excellent relationship.

According to Sky Germany, both sides hold each other in high regard, however another straight loan is not an option for Brighton.

It makes no economic sense. Should he be loaned out again, it would be under specific conditions — such as a mandatory purchase.

A permanent transfer for Gruda is currently not budgeted for Leipzig, with a high transfer fee for his position is not currently a priority.

It must be said, should the situation in the attacking department change — and revenue be generated — this could change quickly.

The truth is that had Assan Ouédraogo not suffered a long-term injury this season, Gruda would have never been sought after by Leipzig.
