Türkgücü München file for bankruptcy
It's a sad day for all involved at Türkgücü.
Currently in the relegation zone and fighting for their league status, the news makes Türkgücü’s task nearly an impossible one. The club’s main investor, Hasan Kivran stepped down nearly 12 months ago and Türkgücü has struggled ever since to raise similar funds.
Their main issues have been a mixture of the lack of sponsors and the pandemic. There’s was hope for Mr Kivran to step back into the hot seat at Türkgücü but that remains to be seen.
The club did have plans to be in the 2. Bundesliga by 2023 but this accumulation of problems look as if the Munich-based team will be playing in the Regionalliga next season.
Looking at the table as it stands and if Türkgücü were handed a nine-point deduction, they would sit bottom of the league with 12 points. This would give them the mammoth task of chasing down a ten-point gap between them and safety.
Another possibility is that the club could be disbanded entirely from the 3. Liga and that would have even bigger implications on the league standings.
There has been no official word from the league yet in terms of how they are going ahead with proceedings.
