Füllkrug questions overturned goal in loss to Paderborn

Werder Bremen were upset by second-division side Paderborn through penalties in the DFB-Pokal, but could have won if not for a controversial overturned goal.
Niclas Füllkrug scored in extra time during Werder's defeat to Paderborn on Wednesday night, but the goal was somehow overturned by the 4th official. The head referee gave his approval on the pitch, but changed his decision after the official on the touchline believed to have seen a foul on the corner kick.

There is no VAR in this stage of the Pokal and after the game, Füllkrug sarcastically said:

"The 4th official who was 50 meters away on the touchline saw more than the referee who was 3 meters away. - In the end it doesn't make any sense to me, it's a regular goal."

He added that, "There were one or two very questionable situations, so the DFB also has to consider whether it makes sense to play without a video assistant."

Werder now turn their attention to Freiburg on Saturday.
