Official: Mainz loan Barkok out to Hertha with reported purchase obligation

Moroccan attacking midfielder Aymen Barkok's move from the Rhein to the Spree was officially confirmed on Thursday evening. 

Sky Germany reports that there is an obligatory €1.5 million purchase clause in the loan arrangement should the player reach a certain number of deployments.
Aymen Barkok's rumored loan-out from FSV Mainz 05 to Hertha BSC is through. The 25-year-old with head to the capital city's Charlottenburg club on loan until the end of the season. After Mainz, Eintracht Frankfurt. and previous loan Düsseldorf, Hertha will be the fourth professional station for the Hessen native. Barkok has amassed 109 Bundesliga appearances four his four clubs.

"Aymen wanted a change of scenery and a chance at more playing time," FSV sporting director Martin Schmidt noted in a statement, "The loan to Hertha accords him a chance at that."

"I'm happy to be here with a club that truly belongs in the Bundesliga," the 18-times-capped Moroccan international himself said, "Now I hope to help the team achieve its goals and, together, achieve as much success as possible."

"Aymen is an experienced Bundesliga player who has also gained international experience [in the Europa League]," Hertha's sporting director Benjamin Weber said, "He can be deployed flexibly in central midfield and can help us immediately. He can boost our game with his skills."

Sky Germany reports that there is an obligatory €1.5 million purchase clause in the loan arrangement should Barkok reach a certain number of deployments. The player's current contract with Mainz remains valid through the end of next season.
