FC Schalke 04 remain eager to keep Alexander Nübel and have offered the highly-rated goalkeeper a contract extension, Bild understands.

Nübel's current deal expires in 2020, and Schalke now want to tie him down to a new contract until 2023 that would increase the 22-year-old's wages and include an exit clause which would take effect from 2021.

The promising goalkeeper, who has been linked with Bayern München, Atlético Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain among others, will now discuss his future with his environment and make a quick decision.

If Nübel turns down the offer from Schalke, he will most likely be sold this summer as 'The Royal Blues' don't want to risk losing him for free in 2020 when his current deal expires.

Schalke have brought in a new keeper in Markus Schubert from Dynamo Dresden, but have let Ralf Fährmann join Norwich City on loan.
