Germany and Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gündogan has ruled out retiring from international football.

Germany's last-16 exit against England at the Euros led to speculation that the 30-year-old could step back from international duty.

However, after talking to new Germany coach Hansi Flick, Gûndogan has decided that he wants to keep representing his country.

"I'm not done with the national team yet," Gündogan told Kicker.

"I was very disappointed after our early exit at the Euros and needed some time to let it sink in during my vacation.

"I spoke to Hansi on the phone at great length, and he explained to me how he wants to be successful with us again in the future and what role he wants me to play in this regard."

Gündogan has made 49 appearances for Germany, scoring 11 goals.
