Demirović sets record straight on Stuttgart future amid Woltemade saga

VfB Stuttgart striker Ermedin Demirović has moved to quash rumours of a summer exit, insisting he is fully focused on fighting for his place at the Bundesliga club.

“I’ve set myself the goal of pushing on,” the 27-year-old told Sky. “I want to use pre-season to show that I’m here, that I want to play, that I can help the team. That’s the only goal and the only focus I have right now.”

When asked if a transfer before the end of the window could still happen, Demirović was clear: “I don’t think so. I’m happy to be at VfB Stuttgart. Everything else we’ll see in time.”

Demirović has previously been linked with AC Milan, while Sky reported in June that he was unhappy with his minutes last season. Although the Bosnian international featured in all 34 Bundesliga matches, 14 of those appearances came from the bench, often in the second half. Stuttgart, however, are satisfied with his performances since his €23 million move from Augsburg in 2024.

“No unrest” in squad despite Woltemade rumours

The ongoing transfer saga surrounding teammate Nick Woltemade has also dominated headlines, but Demirović insists the speculation isn’t affecting the dressing room.

“There’s really hardly any unrest, I have to say,” he explained. “Everyone knows how we are as characters. Of course everyone reads it, but it’s not our job to comment – that’s for the clubs to deal with.

“For now, he’s still here. We’re happy he’s here because he’s a good character and fits the team well. But honestly, it just bounces off most of us.”
