The future of Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann is uncertain after Monday’s disappointing round of 32 World Cup elimination against Paraguay.

In a post-match interview, Germany sporting director Rudi Völler said he remains convinced by the 38-year-old, but stressed that it's not up to him alone to decide whether to stick with Nagelsmann or not.

“I am not the DFB alone. Everyone knows how I feel about Julian. He is still an absolute top coach. I am convinced that he is probably the right man to continue. He is a fighter,” Völler said.

“I can’t and don’t want to say more about it at the moment. We will sit down together again in the next day or two, and then we will see. For me, he is the right person in the right place.”

Nagelsmann’s contract runs until 2028. The 38-year-old said he's keen to see it through unless the DFB decides otherwise.
