Orlando Gill played a key role in Paraguay’s sensational World Cup win over Germany on Monday, making several important saves during the game before stopping two penalties in the shootout.

Unsurprisingly, the 26-year-old goalkeeper was overjoyed after sealing progress to the round of 16 at Germany’s expense.

“An immense thrill. It was a tough match. We managed to hold on. We opened the scoring, they equalised, but then we managed to keep it up,” Gill said, according to FIFA.com.

“Obviously, we analysed every player and every detail of the penalty takers. Thank God I was able to save two penalties. This is a privilege; we eliminated a champion. This is dedicated to all Paraguayans.”

Paraguay’s best-ever World Cup result remains reaching the quarter-finals in 2010.
