Ahead of VfL Wolfsburg's trip to face Mainz 05 on Saturday, Daniel Bauer offered a positive update on the availability of Dženan Pejčinović.
“Dzenan is back in training. He's looking very good, and I'm very optimistic that he'll travel with us to Mainz tomorrow,” the interim coach said in his press conference. –
“[Marius] Müller is also back. He's training with a mask and feels very comfortable with it. Mattias Svanberg has also returned to training after recovering from his infection,” he added.
Bauer also discussed the possibility of winter signing Kento Shiogai featuring, and who will wear the captain's armband in the absence of suspended Maximilian Arnold.
"Kento Shiogai has performed very well in the first two sessions. We still need to work a bit on his language skills, but he's making a very positive impression and is an option for Mainz.
“Regarding Max Arnold's yellow card suspension: We'll discuss who will captain the team tomorrow – together with the players, the team council and the coaching staff,” said Bauer.
