Hoeness puts pressure on Kovac: 'There is a need for internal discussion'

Bayern München president Uli Hoeness put pressure on Niko Kovac after Saturday's 3-3 draw with Fortuna Düsseldorf, but guaranteed that he will remain in charge for Tuesday's game against Benfica.
Niko Kovac's struggling Bayern München side suffered another disappointment in the Bundesliga on Saturday as the German champions threw away a 3-1 lead to draw 3-3 with Fortuna Düsseldorf at the Allianz Arena.

The result means the Bavarians are now without a win in three Bundesliga matches and are nine points behind league leaders Borussia Dortmund - a difficult situation that requires internal discussion, says Bayern president Uli Hoeness.

"We can't be satisfied with this performance. There is a need for internal discussion. We don't want to make anything internal public. The fact is that we're in a difficult situation. During the weekend, we all need to think about how we can get ourselves out of this situation again," he told German media after the 3-3 draw.

Saturday's result has certainly not made Niko Kovac's life easier, but Hoeness insists that the former Croatian international will still be in charge for the club's Champions League clash with Benfica on Tuesday.

"Niko Kovac will certainly be our coach when we play against Benfica on Tuesday. Of course, we haven't asked the squad about the coach in the dressing room, but we will certainly use the next few days to find out what's wrong and why we play so badly. Our football is uninspired and without confidence," Hoeness said.
