VfB Stuttgart are looking for offensive firepower and have identified Borussia Dortmund striker Maximilian Philipp as a transfer target in January, Stuttgarter Nachrichten reports.

According to the German media outlet, Stuttgart are hoping that it will be possible to sign the 24-year-old on loan.

Philipp, whose contract runs until 2022, has fallen down the pecking order at the Signal Iduna Park lately and hasn't been involved in Dortmund's last four games. The former Freiburg striker has scored twice in 12 appearances this season.

In addition to Philipp, Stuttgart are reportedly chasing Borussia Mönchengladbach's Patrick Herrmann. The 27-year-old winger has started just twice in the Bundesliga this season.
