Fantasy Bundesliga tips:
10 players to consider for Matchday 5

By Rune Gjerulff   @runegjerulff

Here are 10 players you should consider bringing into your Fantasy Bundesliga team for Matchday 5.
In this Fantasy Bundesliga article, we will not be focusing on the most obvious picks such as Alphonso Davies, Christopher Nkunku and Sadio Mané.

Instead, we will highlight players with a maximum ownership percentage of 15%, who could offer great value as differentials for Matchday 5.

Anthony Jung, Werder Bremen (Defender, 2.9M, 1%)
Jung got on the scoresheet last week and is both cheaper and has a lower ownership than teammate and fellow wing-back Mitchell Weiser. With games against Bochum and Augsburg coming up, Werder have a really attractive schedule.

Jeremie Frimpong, Leverkusen (Defender, 11.2M, 6%)
Many Fantasy Bundesliga managers probably lost patience with Frimpong after Matchday 3 and chose to sell him ahead of Leverkusen's seemingly difficult away fixture at Mainz, but the 21-year-old certainly proved his doubters wrong with two goals and an insane 24-point haul as Leverkusen stormed to a 3-0 win. After three losses in a row, Leverkusen turned a corner with their win over Mainz, and the bookmakers see them as pretty big favorites for their next three games against Freiburg (H), Hertha BSC (A) and Werder Bremen (H).

Borna Sosa, Stuttgart (Defender, 11.8M, 2%)
Looking at Stuttgart's games so far this season, Sosa is yet to show the form that made him one of the highest-scoring Fantasy Bundesliga defenders in the 2021/22 campaign, but the Croatian wing-back made a step in the right direction with nine points to his name against Köln last week. Although many of his points in the past came from setting up the now departed Sasa Kalajdzic, Sosa is certainly still an option worth considering this week because of his low ownership and Stuttgart's favorable matchup against Schalke 04 at home – if he's still there when the transfer window closes of course.

Kevin Stöger, Bochum (Midfielder, 5.9M, 7%)
Stöger has been a bright spot in what has been a terrible start to the season for Bochum. After losing their first four games, Thomas Reis' side will be desperate to pick up points against newly-promoted Werder Bremen and Schalke 04 in their next two matches, and Stöger is likely to play a key role, having already picked up 39 points this season despite his team's poor run of form.

Jan Thielmann, FC Köln (Midfielder, 7.4M, 3%)
As a Fantasy player, you simply have to love a midfielder playing out of position as a striker, and that's exactly what Thielmann is. With Köln having a number of players out with injuries, he should be nailed on to start up front against Wolfsburg, who haven't impressed under Niko Kovac so far. Thielmann has a goal and an assist under his belt already this season, and he showed on Matchday 1 that he's capable of getting double figures as he scored 15 points against Schalke.

Julian Brandt, Dortmund (Midfielder, 12.2M, 1%)
After initially slipping down the pecking order under Edin Terzic, Brandt has started the last two games on the wing for Dortmund, and he looks nailed on to keep his starting spot against Hoffenheim, with Donyell Malen still sidelined and Karim Adeyemi doubtful. Brandt scored his first goal of the season against Werder on Matchday 3 and went on to pick up a respectable 9 points versus Hertha last week.

Niclas Füllkrug, Werder Bremen (Striker, 5.7M, 3%)
Priced at just 5.7 million, the experienced forward has offered good value for money so far, having already found the net three times in the league this season. In addition, Werder have two attractive matchups coming up.

Silas Katompa Mvumpa, Stuttgart (Striker, 10.4M, 1%)
Having worked his way back from a long spell on the sidelines, Silas is starting to show glimpses of the form that saw him score 11 goals and provide four assists in 25 Bundesliga games in the 2020/21 season. Using his blistering pace and quick footwork, the 23-year-old was a big threat against FC Köln last week and could have scored a brace if he had been more clinical in front of goal. Silas still managed to pick up 8 points, though, and will now be unleashed against a Schalke defence that conceded six times against Union Berlin last week.

Marcus Thuram, Gladbach (Striker, 11.1M, 9%)
Thuram has been in unstoppable form from the start of the 2022/23 season and took his league goal tally to three for the season as he found the net against Bayern. Gladbach have a much easier match on their hands this time, playing at Borussia-Park against a Mainz team coming off a 0-3 defeat against Leverkusen.

Anthony Modeste, Dortmund (Striker, 12.2M, 5%)
After two unimpressive performances, Modeste finally scored his first goal for Borussia Dortmund, heading in the winner against Hertha BSC last week. The experienced forward, who scored 20 Bundesliga goals for Köln last season, offers great flexibility this week, with Dortmund playing Hoffenheim at home on Friday.
