Freiburg ship attacking prospect Burkart south on loan

SC Freiburg confirmed the loan-out of young attacking prospect Nishan Burkart to his native Switzerland for the 2022/23 campaign on Tuesday.
Former Man United academy striker Nishan Burkart will spend the rest of the season south of the BaWü-Switerland border. On Tuesday evening, SC Freiburg confirmed that the 22-year-old would be loaned out to newly promoted Swiss Super League side FC Winterthur for the duration of the year.

Burkart's success as a Swiss youth international, combined with a strong training camp for the Breisgauer last summer, led many to believe that he might be a breakout prospect last year. The center-forward was nevertheless never able to crack the squad, in large part due to the emergence of his fellow SCF II teammate Kevin Schade.

Burkart has just one senior side appearance to his credit. He has scored 19 goals and chipped in a further five assists for the Freiburg reserves. He had gotten off to a rather slow start for the SCF II in the current 3. Liga campaign, not registering on the scoresheet in four appearances.
